Tools You'll Need
- Hammer drill with masonry bits (for concrete substrates)
- Standard drill/driver (for wood substrates)
- Socket wrench set
- Torpedo level and 4ft level
- Tape measure
- Pencil or marker
- Safety glasses and gloves
- Miter saw (if cutting cap rail to length)
Substrate Preparation
Spigots can be mounted on concrete, wood, or steel. Each substrate requires a different fastening approach:
- Concrete: Use concrete anchor bolts (included with spigots). Drill holes to specified depth using a hammer drill with masonry bit. Clean holes with compressed air before inserting anchors.
- Wood: Use lag bolts (included). Mount through the deck board into the joist below. We recommend a minimum 2x8 joist for structural support. Pre-drill pilot holes to prevent splitting.
- Steel: Use through-bolts with backing plates. Drill mounting holes through steel substrate to match spigot bolt pattern.
Spigot Spacing
For standard glass panel widths, space spigots according to the chart included with your order. As a general guide:
- Panels up to 36" wide: spigots at 30-33" center-to-center
- Each panel requires 2 spigots (one near each edge)
- Where two panels meet, they share a 180° connector between adjacent spigots
- At corners, use a 90° connector
- At wall terminations, use a wall connector
Glass Panel Installation
- Loosen the set screws on each spigot
- Slide the glass panel into the spigot channels
- Use a level to ensure the panel is plumb
- Tighten set screws evenly to secure the panel
- Install connectors between adjacent panels
Cap Rail Installation
- Measure the total rail length for each section
- Cut aluminum cap rail to length using a miter saw with a non-ferrous blade
- Place the rubber gasket into the cap rail channel
- Press the cap rail onto the top edge of the glass panels
- Secure with clips at each spigot location
- Install end caps and corner connectors where applicable
